Questions

Buying property in Albania

The things buyers ask us most often, answered plainly. If yours is not here, ask us directly.

Can foreigners buy property in Albania?

Yes. Foreign nationals can buy property in Albania without restriction, and the process is the same one an Albanian buyer goes through.

What documents do I need?

A passport or national ID card is enough. A certificate of marital status can also be useful.

How long does the purchase take?

Anywhere from a few hours to a few weeks, depending on the paperwork. In practice, most purchases complete in two to three days.

Is property in Albania a good investment?

Albania is developing quickly and becoming more popular every season. In our experience coastal property has been gaining roughly 10–15% in value each year, which together with short-term letting makes for a relatively fast return.

Can I rent my apartment out to holidaymakers?

Yes. Short-term letting is common in the popular resorts, and several local firms specialise in managing day-to-day rentals for owners.

Are there modern apartments in Albania?

Yes. Resorts such as Qerret and Golem offer apartments finished to European standards, built specifically for what international buyers expect.
